ATL Presidents Club

ATL's Presidents Club has been enhanced by adding two bar tenders in front of the self-service bar. This was after a month or so of no alcohol service while the machines were supposedly broken.

I asked one of them today why they are there and what they do.

"Well, the drink dispenser was breaking too much."

>>"So, instead of me dealing with it breaking, you get to do that?"

"Well, yeah, and it creates two jobs, so that's really good, you know?"

>>"Uh huh, thanks," I said as I walked off with my drink.

If you are a CO employee, I'm sure that it's really great to create two new jobs. However, as a shareholder and a customer, I have to question the decision to put two full time employees in front of a self-service beer/wine fridge and drink/ice dispensor that has worked for years.

Additionally, the new "bar" (which is just a podium only useful for their nameplates and maybe serving one or two drinks) takes up more space in addition to the table and chairs that the bartenders use when they're not serving drinks.

This move has reduced capacity, increased cost significantly, and not added any functionality. I'm suspicious that there are liquor law issues that are not being disclosed.

Thoughts? Insight?
