Continental Expedites Screenings for OnePass Elite, Business

Continental Expedites Screenings for OnePass Elite, BusinessFirst, First Class, Latin Business Customers

Quote:
HOUSTON, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL - news) today has begun to further expedite the security screening process for its OnePass Elite, BusinessFirst, domestic First Class and Latin Business Class customers by designating security checkpoint lanes for their use at the airline's hubs in Houston, New York/Newark and Cleveland.

``From the beginning, we led the industry in ensuring that our customers avoided the interminable wait times at security checkpoints that travelers experienced at many other airline hubs,'' said Continental Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gordon Bethune. ``With the addition of 13 new security checkpoint positions in our three domestic hub airports since October, we have made the security process faster and more convenient for everyone. Now we are happy to offer this new benefit to OnePass Elite and premium-fare customers without increasing wait times for others.''

I see this more as making a mistake and admitting to being wrong.

This is better than not doing anything about it and claiming that the situation is resolved.

(For those not following this, Bethune recently said that he wouldn't create Elite lines because he'd rather make security fast for all passengers)

I went through the "First Class / BusinessFirst / Onepass Elite" security line in IAH today. It was great and quick, except sort of strange; I had to show my boarding pass to three different people before making it through security. Two continental employees (one in front, one in thie middle of the line) and a security agent before I went through screening.

Expedited Check-In

I have been a Marriott rewards Platinum member for many years now and I was unaware that being a Marriott rewards member entilted me to a faster aiport screning section. However, after reading a post here mentioning Marriott rewards Gold members, I was wondering, do Marriott Rewards elite members recieve expedited airport screening with CO?

Where did you see that? I'm doubtful that a non-airline elite car would get you very far.

Marriott Rewards

I am sorry, I feel so stupid now, I miss-read the accomplishments of one of your posters as accepted forms of in-roads into the first/businessfirst/Latin Business class lines. I again apologize.

What elite members are allowed to use the elite/BusiessFirst/first class security line? With northwest only Gold and Platinum may use them. Is it all elites with continental?

I haven't seen these lines in months and am not sure if they even exist anymore. I vaguely recall it being restricted to golds and plats.

At IAH, even during the morning bank of flights, there is still not even a wait at the regular security line but I haven't seen an Elite security line anyways, but Northwest has one at Terminal B, but like NWgoldelite said: only for Golds, Platinums, and First Class.
