Recent EUA Success

After all the changes and complaints, we have confirmation from Continental that EUA has been fixed. Complaints have died down in the forum, but I'd like to hear about everyone's EUA experience after 4/2/2002.

Have EUA rates turned back to normal? Has everyone started receiving the 3h EUA when you haven't been confirmed at least the night before?

I actually haven't flown an upgradable flight on CO in several weeks and will be getting back into the routine this week, so I'm curious about the current situation and experiences.

My big complaint was that an unrealistic number of seats were being held in A until push-back. The two longer haul segments of my upcoming trip are A9F9 now. The AUS-IAH segments are A4F2, though, but that's also quite reasonable. I'm expecting 3 or 4 EUAs in the next couple nights if all goes well, which is a much higher expectation than I had a month or two ago.

My last few trips have been NW Codeshares on CO metal (Price was at least $500 cheaper than CO tix for the SAME flights). I did get upgraded in advance, but am not quite sure when it happened. If I had to venture a guess, it looks like EUA is running normal again.

I am on Y fares this week, so I am already upgraded.

0% on Platinum EUA and 0% 3hr EUA for CO. However I have always been able to upgrade at the gate.

I'm glad that EUAs are working on NW codeshares on CO metal; all 4 of my upcoming flights this week were purchased from NW. It was significantly cheaper, plus I had a pretty large unused NW voucher from a past, cancelled trip that was coming close to expiring.

I'll know tonight about my outbound. Wheee....

nwelite: any idea why your EUA stats are so bad?

Maybe because CO put a flag on PNRs because I live in Houston and fly NW more often.

As I said, I booked CO flights throuh NW because they were significantly cheaper.

I had given the NW agent my Onepass #, but he still gave me non-elite seat assignments in coach. I asked him to confirm that he had my Onepass # and then I went ahead and called Continental to get Elite seats. I gave her my Onepass number and then confirmed my elite seating in coach.

I waited a few days...

It was 2am, within the gold window for upgrading my outbound trip and I hadn't received any emails and my itinerary hadn't been updated online. I called Continental to ask why I hadn't been upgraded. The agent said that my Onepass # wasn't in the record, but she put it in for me. She refused to do an Elite upgrade outside of EUA.

I called Northwest and asked about an Elite upgrade on the CO-operated flights. She asked if I was a Gold or Platinum Elite since we were 3 days from the departure date. I said that I was, so she asked for my Onepass number since it wasn't on the reservation. I gave it to her and was put on hold. Within a minute, she came back on the aisle and asked if I wanted a window or aisle seat in first class.

End result:
  • Supplied my Onepass number four times
  • Confirmed a manual elite upgrade on a CO flight by a NW agent

Hi Y'all,

My 1st (non-award) CO flight since 4/2/2002 is this weekend. Platinum going DFW to EYW (Key West) on a heavily discounted ticket ($219).

The flight out is on Friday so I sarted checking things Sunday. No EUA e-mail and CO website "my itineraries" shows no upgrade even tho ITN has F1 for both DFW-IAH and IAH-MIA.

On Moday, 2 EUA e-mails and website shows my PNR was last updated on Sunday at 8:04pm. I guess EUA was just late getting started. Maybe major computer maintenance going on during the weekend so not a good time to run a long job ????

Bottom line:
All seems to be "normal". But I've never seen the "last minute free-for-all" that everyone complains about...and I've already flown 35,000+ miles (all discount fares) this year. (Don't ask about my recent award flights to Italy and getting cleard off the 1st Class waitlist for the domestic legs. A completely different story but off topic for this thread).

Ultimately, due to NW/CO confusion that ultimately left me missing the EUA one night, I called in twice and didn't let EUA run. Flew XF on all four segments.

Got EUA 1 of 4 (potential) last night for my AUS-IAH-BWI trip next Monday. As of now the trip looks like:

29-Apr: AUS->IAH / IAH->BWI
4-May: BWI->IAH / IAH->AUS

* EUA (bling bling)

* EUA (bling bling)

An afternoon EUA for a flight that's days away? The plot thickens. . .
