FWIW, I don't see the pattern. I have my silver, gold, and plat card from 2001 in front of me, and it seems that the plat number somewhat bucks the trend.

Bah!

Bah, I hate you!

I missed by ~20 days being able to get the full set of 2001 Elite cards. As it is, I earned plat too late to get a 2001 kit.

For the record, I just called the Gold Elite line right before 11pm to make a Onepass award reservation and was greeted with, "Continental Airlines domestic reservations; how many I help you, Mr. Baker?"

You guys are just doing it wrong.

Hi Y'all,

It's very rare that I have to tell the agentmy OnePass number after entering it on the phone.

My personal guess on this is that if you call an elite line, the system will try to connect you to an elite trained agent. That agent's CRT probably has special sofware to read the OP number from you input and direct an info display to him/her at the same time your call was diercted to that agent.

But...and again this is just my theory...what if all "elite" agents are busy ?? If there are "non-elite" agents available would you rather hold for elite or be patched thru right away to a regular representative ? My guess is the system is designed to answer elite calls asap, even if it needs to be "incorrectedly" routed. The regular rep may not have all the whiz-bang features on his/her computer (or isn't trained on how to use it).

Wow, either you guys are really lucky, or..... something.

I've never been greeted by name when I call the Plat number. I usually end up having to give the agent my number when they answer.

Most of the time the agent gets about halfway through the transaction, and then says, "Oh, are you elite?" and I'm like, "yeah!"

In my experience there is absolutely NO difference between calling the "elite" line and the regular number.

When I call the elite line it seems that I get a more "sensible" person. Someone who knows what they are doing.
