That's true, although I've only once been 'skipped over' when there are seats available in F for upgrading and that was over a year ago.

Dear Mr. Baker:

I sincerely regret your disappointment with our Elite Automated Upgrade (EAU) program. This state of the art system was specifically designed to reward our most valuable customers with fair and consistent access to complimentary domestic upgrades and your perception that we have not met this goal is very troubling. I have forwarded your comments regarding possible enhancements to this system to our Marketing Department for review and possible future consideration. As always,I appreciate the opportunity to receive feedback from a valued OnePass member.

Kind Regards
Customer Care Manager

I got EUA'd last night on my AUS->IAH flight coming up on Wednesday, but not the IAH->SAN segment. Too early to know about the Saturday return trip.
CO started a new policy where they upgrade Y fares first than down the line in order of how expensive the ticket cost.

Changing the upgrade Policy

Continetal has changed it's upgrade policy.
They are now giving upgrades based on fare basis first and elite level second.
Therefore a silver elite traveling on a higher fare base will be upgrade before a platnium of gold

I think that you are misunderstanding the policy change. Fare is only considered within a particular elite level. A silver will still never trump a gold who will never trump a platinum.

Quote:
NEW - Restricted fare class: Beginning February 1, 2003, upgrade priority within Elite level will be based on fare class purchased. The fare class structure in priority order is as follows: H, K, B, V, Q and T.

My dad has had some problems with the machine EUAing him. He's silver, and on his last flight, FLL-IAH-LAS(booked as NW codeshare) the machine did not upgrade him. When I went to itn and checked the F bucket there was 1 avaliable from FLL-IAH. I called up and the agent upgraded him without a problem.

On my last flight, SEA-IAH-FLL, a NW platinum(i saw him pull out his card) were on my exact flights and didn't get his upgrade from IAH-FLL. I got the upgrade over him and I'm gold. I have a feeling that their is some kind of tweek in the system. (but apparently to my advantage)

dbaker- your gold? I thought platinum.
