It pretty much is undispuited that Continental has the worst web site in the industry. Rather that continuing to complain about it, what features would you like to see in order to be satisfied with the web site?
  • New desgin for easier navigation
  • Faster updates to onepass accounts (same-day as flights)
  • All PNRs available under "Reservations" without having to add them manually
  • Reliability and consistency
  • Web check-in

(On a minor note, the graphics are ugly!)

Ideas?

The "best web site" awards are just embarassing because it's so obviously not true. As a former Delta loyalist I find the latency with which continental is able to post segments and miles to the web site to be very primitive.

With Delta, you can connect to the net with your laptop on the airphone and the segment you are in the middle of flying will be reflected on the web site.

This is really the main feature I'd like to see Continental incorporate. Anything else is just dressing.

There are countless issues, I think. Lots are hard to describe. They really just need someone to go in there that has an idea of what customers want and how a good customer navigates.

Currently, it's impossible to bookmark anything and it's so difficult to find anything within the site since it's so large and poorly designed.

I agree that the reliable same-day updating is important. I think that instantaneous updates like Delta may require infrastructre changes. However, I don't see any reason why they minimally can't have updates within 24 hours of your flight. They certainly need to move towards Delta-calibre updates in the next two years, though.

They need to stop pushing the site for a while, too. I hate hearing constantly about how great it is when I know how pathetic the site really is. I'd be so much more impressed if they actually had something to brag about.

While I would like to see some major changes to the Continental website, most notably the addition of the song chain of fools by Aretha Franklin in the background (for those that don’t know what I am talking about, you have obviously not set on the tarmac in a Continental plane long enough), I doubt that anything will happen to the site. At most I bet we can get them to publish the songs that they play over the P.A. or maybe a better picture of Gordon Bethune on the corporate information page.

Additionally, the segments should appear on the statements in the order that you flew them.

What's humorous about the current situation is that segments consistently appear out of order. I'd think that they'd show up in the right order sometimes (or half the time on days when I flew two segments), but it's almost always out of order.

Less javascript window management, too. I'm capable of managing my own windows, thank you.

I'd like to be able to see a cumulative total of all my CO One Pass miles. I've been a member since 1987 (so my card says), and in that time I've redeemed lots of miles--so my account balance is only around 750,000. But it would be interesting to know if I've flown over 1,000,000 air miles or whatever the total is.

I asked Onepass about this a few months ago and was told:

Quote:
Thank you for contacting the OnePass Service Center.

Our records only go back 13 months.

OnePass does not give recognition at the one million mile mark.

Don't despair about CO's sad web site -- there's evidence that change might be in the air.

Today while visiting CO's site (and I visit quite often), I was asked to participate in a survey. A little window popped up asking if I would take 15 minutes out of my time to answer some questions, and be entered in a prize drawing.

I've seen these pop up at other sites all over the Internet, and have always closed them. But since this was Continental, I particiapted in one of these for the first time ever. I was thinking "cool, a chance to tell CO how bad their site is".

I got a silly little joy out of rating many aspect of their web site "Very Disapointed". I also got a little satisfaction in one of their questions "Compared to all airline web sites that you have visited, how would you rate Continental?". Of course, I clicked "Worse". Muhahaha.

I also got a chance to tell them that they need to put a high priority on getting award redemption features put on their web site.

And who knows, maybe I'll win the prize. Yeah right -- I'm so cynicial about winning prizes that I don't even remember what the prize was...

And when they say 15 minutes, don't believe it. I think it was half an hour.

I vaguely recall filling out something similar on their site a year or so ago. I think it was before I participated in the beta for the new reservations system.

Yeah, the "beta" reservations site was quite a disappointment on several levels. Superficially, it was a disappointment because the beta site offered very little that hadn't already been available on the continental site. It was spruced up a bit cosmetically, but there were few feature or usability improvements that I could see.

However, it was also an even larger disappointment because I saw the announcement as an encouraging move on Continental's part that perhaps they'd finally "gotten it". Perhaps, just maybe, they were going to admit that their website is deficient and do something about it.

When the beta was actually launched it was very disappointing to see that it was just more of the same. Nothing much had changed, at least nothing that actually matters.

I really home that some day Continental is able to perform the necessary self-examintation and make some constructive changes to their website.
