Aircraft attacks on ground structures

Given the events of Sept 11 and other related threats, I'd like to know how difficult it really would be to have a commercial aircraft crash land into a (relatively small) structure like the white house.

Clearly, hijackers were able to hit the Pentagon, but that is a significantly larger facility that is in clearer view from the sky.

What about smaller buildings and structures? It would seem that it's nearly impossible to hit them, especially at the high speeds that the 757/767s on 9/11 were flying at.

I'd be curious to hear input on this from anyone with particular knowledge about the subject. (daa?)

discussion of this nature

Before discussion gets too far along on this, I'd like to point everyone to an article on K5 and some of the consequences of scenario talk:

Now, I'm not suggesting that any discussion along the topic at hand be curtailed, but this article has given me pause for thought on a number of occasions.
