Darjeeling in December 2009

i shall be travelling to India in Decmber and January for my second time and would like to visit DArjeeling and perhaps Tezpur but I hate snow! Anyone know what the weather will be like at that time and if the toy train runs through winter?

Because of its high altitude from the sea level, the climate in Darjeeling is generally on the cooler side. Winters in Darjeeling can be quite cold and extreme. The winter season generally lasts from the month of December to January. Winters have a cool climate within the average range of 5 °C to 7 °C. Minimum temperature this season can be freezing –2 °C. Snowfalls are not common during winters.

The place becomes an ideal burrow for people who wish to enjoy the typical winter chill.

June is the good month to visit the place because it's summer time. Summer falls from the month of April to June.
