Well, you have a while to save up to pay for your adventure. Travel takes money, not just desire and time! Nothing is free, no country wants "vagabonds" camping out - they want paying tourists! So you need money to bum around the world! Read up on what interests you, sleeping in a tent and using a tree for a toilet gets a little old after a while. Lonely Planet travel guide is a pretty good reference, there are other travel guides along this same line that give tips on discount travel and back packing. Europe is the easiest place to start, when you run out of money or patience it will be easier to return home. For Asia, Thailand is popular with backpackers, once there you can travel by bus, plane or train to the other countries nearby. Nothing is free, you will need money for food, lodging, transportation, entertainment and some for emergencies! Keep your credit good so that you can qualify for a credit card, only use the credit card for emergencies that come up traveling. Work, save money, plan your trip in some logical order - and keep in touch with family and friends for safety! (I left home when I was 18, of course that was in the military, got a lot of travel and "camping out" there too!) Good luck. | |
