Volcanic Lanzarote
Lanzarote is a volcanic island – having been subjected to prolonged eruptions during the 1730´s and 1820´s. Which have left the island with a legacy of around 300 volcanic peaks (all extinct) and unique volcanic scenery that is often likened to the surface of the moon.
Los Hervidores
The eruptions also shaped the coastline of Lanzarote. Such as at Los Hervidores on the north east side of the island.
Valley of 1000 Palms
Lanzarote is also an island of contrasts. As the north is completely different to the arid volcanic south. Boasting verdant, green valleys. Such as the Valley of 1000 Palms – where locals used to plant one palm tree for a new born girl and two for a boy.
