Phangan vs Samui

Hello, I'm planning a honeymoon in july in Thailand, I really liked the Bophut area, thought the fisherman's village looked like a great spot, and the beaches look nice. I heard that the beaches are somewhat polluted and phangan is a better alternative. I don't want to be completely secluded though. Anyway, I have two questions:
1) Besides Full Moon what is the night scene in Phangan
2) In general how do these palces match up

You guys have been so helpful and I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks!!!

Ko Phangan attracts a lot of "young kids" who want to get drunk and stoned. Some long hair hippie types also like that area. There are some logistics involved in just getting there. My opinion is if you are slightly more mature and aren't into "full moon" scenes you can do better just staying in Phuket.

Don't blow off Bangkok! Spend at least a few days there at the beginning of your trip and a final night there. This way you can arrange your flights and transportation to other areas of Thailand and take some tours. You don't want to go all the way to Thailand just to see a couple beaches do you? Chiang Mai is also popular with honeymooners! All of Thailand is warm, you can get a tan just walking around Bangkok and Chiang Mai. A final night in Bangkok will have you only a short taxi ride to the airport and allow you to do some last minute shopping and perhaps an evening dinner cruise too!

I don't know if "boppop" is the bride or the groom but if it is the guy here is some advice from an old fart - let the woman make a lot of the destination and hotel choices - that way you will never be wrong! If you are the guy and you chose wrong you will hear about it forever!!!!!!

Good luck.
