Questions about Traveling to Asia from the US

To those of you who have traveled from the US to Asia, I have a question for you!! I will be traveling from the east coast non stop to beijing, and I was wondering how do you cope with the jetlag...should i get a full sleep in before the 14hr flight...should i pack a considerable amount of food?...should i try to sleep for the majority of the flight?...Any Advice would be greatly appreciated!!!-Thanks
