Safe in China?

We are heading for China next month? Is it safe enough to travel across the country. What's the safest transportation? How about train and bus especially!
And BTW, anyone here once rent cheap cell phones in China?

Generally speaking, safe! However, you should aways be cautious on bus or train, pickpocket is not easy to avoid.
The safest one should be airplane. However, train or bus may add more fun on your journy!
As for Phone rental.......
try www.tourfone.com. Just order on line. Not bad, and convinient enough.
