train/ferry from UK > Paris

Hi all,

First post here!

Im taking my girlfriend to Paris (hopefully) in November. She cant/wont fly! So its gonna have to be either train or ferry.

Never done this before, so could do with as much advice/info as poss please.

We live in north east (not far from Newcastle), and ideally we would depart as close to home as poss. Would we have to make our way down to London and depart from there? Hope not.

Are there any specific websites/agencies to book with, preferably as cheap as poss. The sites i've tried so far seem pretty useless to be honest, which is why I need advice from you guys.

We'll be leaving around 31st Oct, and coming back around 6th Nov. So far i've found a price for around £125 outward journey, but im just confused by all the factors to consider that the websites throw at you!! PLEASE HELP.
