2 nights in Mumbai

I have just booked a two week trip to India in March with two friends (all mid-twenties).

We fly into Mumbai and were planning to spend a couple of nights here before flying to Gia. I was wondering if anybody could give us some recommendations of how to spend the two days - I guess we will be looking for a bit of a mix of seeing the major sights and also trying to soak up the city atmosphere, maybe visit markets etc.

Also, we haven't booked any accomodation yet, we don't need anything fancy, but any recommendations of good quality budget hotels would be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot
