| ACTUAL Truth about the Safety of AirTran (not aka ValuJet)
1) AirTran is not ValuJet, just as they're not Eastern
__________________2) All of their aircraft (717-200s & 737-700s) are new, one of the youngest fleets on Earth 3) AirTran maintenence consistently receives the govt's highest awards for safety 4) AirTran is very safe, never having a single crash or loss of life due to such These are all facts which are not open to interpretation... |

Those are facts under the assumption that AirTran is not Valujet. The relationship between AirTran and Valujet is up for interpretation: Was Valujet, or Is Valujet.

| My Point Eggzackly
...dbaker is just making my point for me, so I'll let him. His own post states "former company", "former name", and that they were "formerly known as ValuJet." Ummm, I believe everyone is already well aware of that... But that's what dbaker just can't bring himself to acknowledge, the difference in "current" and "former." As exemplified by his heading "(aka ValuJet)". AirTran is not "aka" ValuJet, they were "fka" ValuJet... And here's the part where dbaker attempts to deceive: he'd like for everyone to think it was simply a name change instead of the "merger" that it actually was. AirTran was actually a seperate airline altogether and was based in Orlando while ValuJet was based in Atlanta. Again, facts not open to interpretation. dbaker's general response has been to downplay AirTran's size and significance prior to the merger, but that just doesn't fly. Again, despite the effort to blur the information that I've presented because they just don't fit dbaker's agenda, the four points that I make at the top of this thread are facts not open to interpretation. Do yourselves a favor: read them again and don't forget them ![]() |

I think the AirTran merger is the only time i've heard of a larger company taking the name of the smaller company in the merger. ![]() |

AirTran was the smaller company. Also nearly bankrupt. At the time of the shutdown Valujet had 250 million in the bank, it is what allowed them to survive.
