| I took a flight on AirTran!
I went to Miami with my family on April 3! I like the 717...nice clean and quiet plane! We flew straight down Florida's western coast, made a sharp left over Naples, followed I-75 to the east coast made a turn south to bring us over Key Biscane and then did a 180 and flew past the city for the final.
__________________When we went to the airport on the 10th to come back to Atlanta, we got their about 4 hours early so I decided to rebook on the 12:30 flight. I think that was the first flight that I have been on with an all male flight crew! the flight back to ATL was great until we started our approach - the air in Atlanta was the problem...not AirTran. landed 15 min early! - John P.S. Congradulations! You only overbooked the MIA-ATL flight by one person!! Delta would have probably overbooked it by 31 persons LOL...ah..this is bad, im making jokes about my airline. |

| Congrats!
Glad your experience with AirTran went so well. Here's to many more flights on this wonderful not-so-little airline. I'd love to give Song a try myself and hope to do so in the near future. But since they've put their expansion plans on hold and generally avoid ATL because of AirTran, it makes it a little more difficult for me. ![]() On a side note, I know you mentioned that your 757s don't climb out as steeply as you'd like. But those 717s really leap off the runway, don't they! Rolls Royce has done an excellent job with the thrust on those rockets. ![]() Can't wait to load up on one of AirTran's brand new 737-700s coming in June. With 100 of those longer range babies on order so far, I foresee AirTran adding nonstop flights from Atlanta to Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Pheonix, Mexico, the Caribbean, Montreal, Toronto, etc. I'm looking forward to flying all those routes with AirTran ![]() |

Yes...two thumbs up for Rolls Royce engines! I was dissappointed to hear that Song's expansion was going to be put on hold (well, it is on hold now)...but it is true, we do need to find more ways to reduce expenses - a JetBlue ticket on an Airbus Death Trap from JFK to FLL is $69 while our average ticket price is $104. Am I right to assume that the first 737 is going to replace the MCO-ATL-LAX-ATL-MCO Ryan Int. A320? You just wait...Song will start growing (eventually) and will expand in Atlanta!! Delta helped you run JetBlue out of Atlanta...when we come in with our lime green planes, Daddy Delta isn't going to help you very much!! (Im not exactly sure of the expansion plan for song, but there has to be a good expansion plan for Atlanta...after all, it is Delta's main hub and HQ!) - John Oh yeah...when were you guys planning on announcing the Miami Air partnership? |

I do believe we will be flying the 737's on the MCO routes first, we are going to replace the Ryan rountes as quickly as possible. As for the Miami Air deal you speak of......thats news to me. I am just a mechanic but I dont possibly see how or why we would need any other deals with any other airlines at this time. We will soon have all the planes we need for our growth right now. I will find out though. As far as I now we are trying to get rid of all our partnerships ie....Ryan, Air Wiscon. I hope that Delta and AirTran are "nice" to each other when we meet in Atl on the new routes Song will fly. ![]() |

Could be that Miami Air (charter service) is temporarily filling the "feeder" gap for AirTran since the contract with AirWisconsin and their CRJs was allowed to expire last month. Probably just until the 737-7s start coming online in June and AirTran can begin converting some of the 717s to the feeder routes. Also, Miami Air flies the brand new 737-8 and AirTran could be having a little "look see" until their new -37s arrive in a few months. Just speculating, of course
