Can i travel to japan as a tourist without a visa?

I am currently holding a philippine passport and an australian permanent resident visa and is currently here in australia, i was wondering whether i am still allowed to travel to japan only as a tourist without getting a visa? i believe, australian passport holders doesn't need it, will it be the same for me?
